Fear is Definitely a Factor

If you ever thought gym class and cafeteria food was bad, you haven’t been on “Fear Factor Live.” Based on “Fear Factor,” an NBC reality series, this new show at Universal Studios Hollywood will leave your skin crawling and your stomach in knots.
The show is comprised of three stunts that must be performed to show that “fear is not a factor for you.” Park guests can sign up to take on challenges onstage in front of a live audience. The challenges test you physically and mentally, ranging from hanging from a bar high above the stage, turning turbines to build up electricity that is then shot into your hands, or being handcuffed to a cylinder which you must spin to undo, then retrieve flags from a tank of carnivorous eels, then take the flag and hang it on a hook on a bar in the middle of a rotating platform with obstacles to knock you off, then undo your gear and chug a smoothie of bugs, decaying fish, mystery meat, and sour milk. Though creepy, it sounds fun, right?
And all of this can be done within the 30 minuite show. After chugging the bugs, feel free to ride the Mummy roller coaster - great combination.
In addition to the new show, there is Fear Factor merchandise, complete with toy bug cuisine, shotglasses with bugs in them and other gross out toys for the kids and kids at heart. “Fear Factor Live” is new at Universal Studios Hollywood, and should not be seen by anyone with a weak stomach or faint of heart, due to special effects and gross combinations. Guests who would like to volunteer to play “Fear Factor Live” can audition at any “Fear Factor Live” casting location in the park.
Charly Shelton will be junior at Crescenta Valley High school in the fall.
