On Sept. 12, Crestview Preparatory School in La Cañada celebrated its 20th year with balloons, a banner, and treated all 220 students, kindergarten through sixth grade, with chocolate cake decorated in the blue and white Crestview colors.
Marge Hanna, head of school, along with Shirley Chong, assistant head of school, and the teachers led the students in singing “Happy Birthday to Crestview.”
Marge Hanna has been head of school since 1982. In 1986, she and Vicki Dempsey, who served as chief financial officer and on the board of trustees, incorporated Crestview Preparatory School. The school has been located at 140 Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada since 1988.
Crestview Prep originally taught 100 students, kindergarten through sixth grade.
The school offers a comprehensive curriculum including special classes for computer, art, library, music, physical education, and Spanish.
Crestview has just received another six year accreditation from the California Association of Independent Schools, the maximum amount awarded by this organization.
All the students enjoyed the celebration.
“The icing on the cake makes my lips turn white,” said kindergartner Jason Katsof.
