‘Wine And Roses’ gala

LCF Tournament of Roses Association held its annual fundraising gala, “An Evening of Wine and Roses”, on Sunday evening at the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club in support of its 32nd Rose Parade float, “Scissored Wizard”.

Chaired by Sharon Boettcher, the event featured LCF Mayor Laura Olhasso as Mistress of Ceremonies, who introduced Rose Queen Natalie Innocenzi, escorted by “the Wizard” Joel Smith, and Princesses Ashley Thaxton , June Ko, Katherine Hernandez, Kinsey Stuart, Lauren Rogers and Michelle Van Wyk, escorted by, respectively, Daryal Gant, Steve Del Guercio, Dr. Woody Walker, Dave Spence, Jim Carbonetti, and Don Voss.

Says Pam Wiedenbeck, LCFTRA President: “This evening has been much anticipated, as it is a great honor to welcome the 2010 Rose Queen and her Royal Court in one of their premier public appearances. Also, we’re very excited about this year’s float: an ambitious attempt to render the art of Origami in flowers. Our “paper” dragon will rise to 32 feet with a wingspan of 25 feet, truly epitomizing the parade theme ‘A Cut Above the Rest’.”

Congratulations to Sharon Boettcher, who was the lucky winner of the $1000 opportunity drawing, and to the winners of the various other prizes.

LCFTRA appreciates contributions from the following: Eiji’s Florist, Ralph’s East, Jay Baum - Shamrock Beverage, La Cañada Flintridge Country Club, LCF Chamber of Commerce, Pam Wiedenbeck, Harriett Hammons, and Gloria Clark, and also thanks Mayor Laura Olhasso, the Wine & Roses Committee, and all of those attending for their support.
