Howie Kendrick stays hot in Angels’ exhibition loss to Seattle

AT THE PLATE: Howie Kendrick, Vernon Wells and Peter Bourjos each had two hits. Kendrick raised his average to a team-leading .500 and extended his hitting streak to 12 games. Bourjos hit his second home run of the Cactus League season.
ON THE MOUND: The Angels got another good performance from a starter. Tommy Hanson gave up two hits — both homers — in four innings. In their most recent Cactus League appearances, Angels starters have a 3.05 earned-run average and have allowed 18 hits in 20 2/3 innings.
EXTRA BASES: The Angels optioned three pitchers to triple-A Salt Lake, including reliever Michael Kohn, who appeared in 38 games big league games in 2010-11 but didn’t play last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in April.
