Clippers’ Blake Griffin eyeing return to the lineup at Philadelphia on Tuesday
Reporting from ATLANTA — All signs point to Blake Griffin returning from right knee surgery to play for the Clippers on Tuesday night at Philadelphia.
Coach Doc Rivers had some fun with the media when he was asked if Griffin would play Monday night against the Atlanta Hawks.
“No,” Rivers responded.
Rivers was then asked if Griffin would play Tuesday against the 76ers.
“OK, yeah,” Rivers said, smiling. “That doesn’t mean it’ll happen, but if you want me to say, ‘yes,’ sure.”
Griffin has missed the last 17 consecutive games – the Hawks game would be 18 – since he had the knee procedure Dec. 20 to remove loose bodies.
Before the media left the Clippers’ shoot-around Monday morning at Philips Arena, Griffin was seen dressed in his workout gear shooting.
He has increased his workouts over the last several days and has been preparing to play for the Clippers before this three-game trip is over.
The Clippers lost the first game of the trip at Denver on Saturday night and are looking to get back on track against the Hawks.
