Dodgers tie Padres in Josh Beckett’s debut
Dodgers 3, San Diego Padres 3
AT THE PLATE: Dee Gordon tripled in a run. Hanley Ramirez collected his first hit of the spring, a single to right field in the third inning. Top outfield prospect Joc Pederson drew walks in each of his two plate appearances. Pederson also scored a run.
ON THE MOUND: Josh Beckett struck out three over two scoreless innings. Paul Maholm, who would be the Dodgers’ fifth starter if one of their starters is unavailable, also pitched two scoreless innings. Stephen Fife was charged with a run, a hit and a walk over two innings.
EXTRA BASES: The Padres might have lost their starting center fielder. Cameron Maybin crashed face first into the ground diving for a ball hit to right-center field by Juan Uribe. Maybin was removed the next inning. Maybin will undergo a MRI exam Monday, according to U-T San Diego.
