Baseball: Kale Morton (7-0) throws one-hitter for Glendora
When it comes to producing in your senior season, Kale Morton of Glendora is coming through similar to former Glendora standout Adam Plutko.
Morton improved to 7-0 on Tuesday, throwing a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts in Glendora’s 1-0 Baseline League victory over Rancho Cucamonga. Glendora (14-5, 7-1) scored on an error in the seventh. Nick Kaye and Alex Briggs each had two hits.
Upland defeated Los Osos, 6-3.
Jack Flaherty struck out 15 and allowed two hits in Harvard-Westlake’s 5-0 win over Capistrano Valley Christian. Jake Suddleson, Cameron Deere and Jackson Grayson each had two hits.
In the Southwestern League, Great Oak knocked off Vista Murrieta, 8-3. Eli Lingos, Austin Williams and Trey Endris each had two hits. Drake Mekkers threw three innings of shutout relief.
In the Pacific Coast League, Beckman (15-2, 7-1) scored nine runs in the sixth innng of a 9-0 win over Irvine. Jake Hazard had two hits and three RBIs. Adam Lamar threw the shutout.
In the Century League, Griffin Barnes had a two-run single in the 10th inning to help Esperanza defeat Villa Park, 5-3. Nick Ono had three hits. Blake Schriever threw five shutout innings of relief for the victory. Anaheim Canyon defeated Foothill, 5-3, in nine innings. Brea defeated El Dorado, 4-0.
In the Pacific League, Burroughs defeated Glendale, 4-1. Danny Bustos allowed two hits in four shutout innings of relief. Hoover defeated Muir, 12-2. Fidel Hernandez went four for four with three RBIs. Hoover scored 10 runs in the fourth inning. Crescenta Valley defeated Pasadena, 7-2. Brian Gadsby struck out 10 and Michael Russo had three hits.
Chris Davidson struck out nine in Village Christian’s 4-1 win over Valley Christian.
In the Almont League, Alhambra improved to 8-0 with a 7-0 win over Montebello. Marco Briones (5-0) struck out 10 and threw a two-hitter.
Riverside North defeated Arlington, 11-9, to improve to 5-0 in the Inland Valley League.
Narbonne advanced to the championship game of the St. Paul tournament with a 7-2 win over Oak Park. Daniel Rocha hit a three-run home run. Adrian Perez had two hits. Aaron Fernandez threw five innings of relief to earn the win.
In the Channel League, Santa Barbara defeated Ventura, 6-5. Sophomore Kevin Gowdy (5-1) struck out five and walked none in six innings. Daniel McKinney had a three-run home run. Gabe Grandcolas added two doubles.
In the San Gabriel Valley League, Downey (13-7) won its 10th consecutive game with a 7-2 win over Warren, improving to 3-0 in league.
In the Valley Mission League, Kennedy (15-6, 4-1) defeated Reseda, 18-0. Gilbert Hernandez (6-0) struck out 12 in four innings. Estevan Rodriguez had two hits and four RBIs, giving him 28 RBIs on the season. Sylmar defeated Van Nuys, 11-1. Victor Ramirez threw six innings. Danny Cervacio had a three-run triple.
In the Western League, Palisades defeated Venice, 3-1.
Sherman Oaks Notre Dame defeated St. Joseph, 3-1. Chris Colarossi had the game-winning RBI.
Chaminade defeated Merced, 12-2, in the Righetti tournament. Nick Kahle had a two-run hom erun. Dylan Suppan threw a complete game. Blake Rutherford had a home run and triple.
