Baseball: West Valley League has new group of promising pitchers
The summer baseball season is almost over, and one clear development is that the West Valley League has replaced its graduated All-City pitchers with a group of promising newcomers.
Sophomore Jeremy Polon of Woodland Hills El Camino Real is unbeaten this summer. Sophomore Jon Escot of Reseda Cleveland threw a no-hitter against Birmingham. Senior John Schultz of Granada Hills didn’t pitch last season because of a broken arm, but he has an 0.50 ERA in the Valley Invitational Baseball League, which has second-round playoff games on Tuesday.
And Chatsworth returns sophomore Josh Garcia, who made major contributions as a freshman.
