Boys’ basketball: Crenshaw holds on for 59-58 win over Dorsey

Crenshaw went on the road and knocked off its neighborhood rival Dorsey, 59-58, in a Coliseum League game on Wednesday night.

The win means Crenshaw pulls into a first-place tie with Dorsey and could be the key win in sending the Cougars to the City Section Open Division plyoffs. Crenshaw barely held on after opening an eight-point lead through three quarters. Chris Kendrick scored 12 points.

Fremont defeated Locke, 77-53. Jajuan Johnson finished with 21 points and Elijah Herron added 19.

In the Western League, Marquis Moore scored 25 points in Westchester’s 81-69 win over University.

In the West Valley League, Birmingham stayed in first place with a 75-41 win Granada Hills. Devante Doutrive scored 21 points and Deschon Winston added 20 points. The Patriots host Taft on Friday. Taft defeated El Camino Real, 77-60. Kihei Clark and Antwan January each scored 27 points. Eddy Egun led ECR with 26 points.

In the East Valley League, Grant defeated Poly, 85-67.

In the Valley Mission League, Van Nuys defeated Panorama, 64-52. Anthony Daniels had 22 points and 13 rebounds.

In the Gold Coast League, Sierra Canyon took over sole possession of first place with an 87-60 win over Windward. Cody Riley scored 22 points and Marvin Bagley III had 20. Jules Bernard led Windward with 25 points.

In the Mission League, Alemany defeated Chaminade, 72-49. Brandon Davis scored 25 points. Harvard-Westlake defeated Notre Dame, 79-69. Aaron Glazer was five of five from three-point range and had 15 points. Khristion Courseault had 22 points in Loyola’s 69-59 win over St. Francis.

In the Trinity League, Servite defeated Orange Lutheran, 68-51. Kamron Fleming scored 28 points. Santa Margarita knocked off St. John Bosco, 68-45. Jake Kyman finished with 19 points. Mater Dei defeated JSerra, 74-57. Bol Bol had 17 points, Spencer Freedman 14 and Justice Sueing and Miles Brookins 13. Sueing announced he has committed to Cal.

La Verne Lutheran defeated Emerson Honors, 46-37. Jacob Espinoza had 19 points. Oxnard defeated Hueneme, 68-11.

Oak Park (19-6, 6-0) clinched the Coastal Canyon League title with a 65-44 win over Camarillo. Riley Battin had 28 points and 21 rebounds. Calabasas defeated Oaks Christian, 58-52. Jack Roggin had 16 points.

Adam Hess scored 29 points in Westlake’s 66-55 win over Newubry Park.

Payton Moore scored 13 points in Santa Monica’s 57-24 win over Hawthorne.

Sean Estes had 21 points in La Canada’s 60-47 victory over Blair. Patric Panoosi added 15 points and 18 rebounds.
