Boys’ basketball: Bennie Boatwright scores 50 points for Village Christian

USC-bound Bennie Boatwright of Village Christian (9-2) earned an early Christmas present on Monday, pouring in 50 points in the Crusaders’ 97-66 win over Saugus in the San Fernando Valley Invitational.
The 6-foot-9 Boatwright made eight three-pointers.
He had 13 points in the first quarter, nine in the second quarter, 16 in the third quarter and 12 in the fourth quarter.
The 50 points is a school record. The old record was 46 points set in 1990.
