Boys’ basketball: Lonzo Ball of Chino Hills is named Gatorade state player of the year
The awards and recognition for a season to remember continue for standout senior point guard Lonzo Ball of Chino Hills.
He was named the Gatorade state player of the year on Thursday. He was earlier named the Naismith national player of the year.
Ball has led Chino Hills to a 33-0 record going into an Open Division Southern California Regional final on Saturday against Bishop Montgomery.
The UCLA signee is averaging 23 points. He joins such recent Gatorade honorees as Tyler Dorsey (Maranatha), Stanley Johnson (Mater Dei) and Allen Crabbe (Price).
