Boys’ basketball: Redondo vs. Roosevelt is game to watch
If high school basktball has become a game about guards, then the Open Division first-round playoff game on Friday between Eastvale Roosevelt and host Redondo is the game to watch.
It’s going to be a battle of top guards.
Roosevelt shared the Big VIII League title with Corona Centennial and has perhaps the best junior guard in the Southland in Jemarl Baker, a Cal commit who can seemingly make threes with his eyes closed.
Redondo, the Bay League champion, is loaded with its outstanding collection of guards featuring Leland Green, Elijah Nesbit, Ryse Williams and Morgan Means.
There could be lots of made threes on Friday. Roosevelt’s Matt Mitchell, a 6-5 junior, will be happy to take an open three.
