Soccer: It’s a Loyola-Servite Division 1 semifinal
Get ready for an epic Southern Section Division 1 boys’ soccer semifinal on Tuesday at Servite.
The Friars advanced with a 1-0 quarterfinal victory over Aliso Niguel. Esen Harris scored the only goal.
Servite will face No. 1-seeded Loyola, which defeated Santa Margarita, 4-1. Lucas Hodges scored two goals for the Cubs. The other semifinal will match San Clemente against Palos Verdes. San Clemente won, 2-1, over St. John Bosco. Palos Verdes defeated Edison on penalty kicks.
In Division 4, Axel Mendez scored the only goal to help Cathedral defeat Hart, 1-0.
In Division 2, Royal defeated Bloomington, 1-0.
In City Section Division I girls, Granada Hills ended the long domination of El Camino Real by beating the Conquistadores in a game decided on penalty kicks after it was scoreless. The Highlanders will face Palisades in the final.
