Football: Cathedral shows it’s going to compete with St. Francis in Angelus League
It looks like unbeaten St. Francis is going to get some competition in the Angelus League after all.
L.A. Cathedral is 4-0, and its 34-3 win over Dorsey last week shows that the Phantoms could be a real threat to the Golden Knights.
Sophomore quarterback Andrew Tovar has passed for 16 touchdowns in four games. Senior receiver Aaron Moore has 15 catches and five touchdowns. Senior defensive back Cameron Haney is doing his Richard Sherman imitation, hitting and stopping receivers galore.
“He’s so physical on defense,” Coach Kevin Pearson said of Haney.
Cathedral plays Verbum Dei this week, then opens Angelus League play on Oct. 11 against Salesian at L.A. Southwest College.
