Football: Dick Whitney, former Kennedy coach, has died
One of the great coaches and good people in City Section history, former Granada Hills Kennedy coach and athletic director, Dick Whitney, died on Nov. 17. He was 78.
Whitney was a standout football player at Eagle Rock and coached at Franklin before arriving at Kennedy in 1977. He coached football and briefly baseball. He was athletic director from 1989 to 1995.
He retired, moved to Orange County and became president of the Orange County chapter of the National Football Foundation.
