Football: First major passing tourney is set for Saturday in Saugus

The 12th annual Saugus under the lights passing tournament will have its earliest competition ever on Saturday at Central Park.
It’s probably good timing, because most schools are engaged in spring practice and should be ready to show off their skills.
The first game is set for 9 a.m. There’s lights, so it’s an all-day affair.
There’s going to be some great matchups at some point. Among the 24 teams entered are Bishop Amat, Thousand Oaks, Valencia, Alemany, Oaks Christian, Calabasas, Sylmar, Norco, Crenshaw, Narbonne, Hart and Oxnard.
Bishop Amat and Alemany deserve the favorite roles.
Tournaments have moved up because schools are taking their three-week sumer dead periods earlier.
