Football: L.A. Jordan will forfeit game on Friday because of lack of players
L.A. Jordan, 0-7 on the football season, will forfeit its scheduled Eastern League game on Friday against Bell after a combination of injuries and ineligible players left the team with just 11 players at practice on Wednesday, Coach Darrell Divinity said.
A final game scheduled against Huntington Park on Oct. 30 also is in jeopardy, Divinity said.
Jordan had as many as 27 players on its roster several weeks ago, Divinity said.
“I’m determined and the kids are determined,” Divinity said earlier in the day before going to practice and seeing only 11 players there.
He said he and the school administration made the decision to forfeit the game.
Jordan is the second school in Southern California forced to forfeit games because of a depleted squad. Peninsula in Rolling Hills Estates announced on Tuesday that it would forfeit its final three games because of safety issues after being down to 21 players.
