Football: Sylmar is making progress
Sylmar (3-2) is ready to go on a six-game winning streak en route to a showdown Valley Mission League finale against Canoga Park on Nov. 7.
By then, the Spartans’ young and inexperienced offensive and defensive lines will be veterans, and that’s bad news for teams in City Section Division II.
In Sylmar’s 42-7 rout of league rival San Fernando last week, quarterback Clarence Williams completed 17 of 23 passes for 306 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 71 yards in six carries.
Anthony Muse caught six passes for 170 yards and three touchdowns. Marcus Gandy rushed for 90 yards in 10 carries.
If Time Warner Cable is smart, they’ll televise that Canoga Park-Sylmar finale to decide the Valley Mission League title.
