Football: Westlake opens season with 59-8 win in Hawaii

Westlake Coach Jim Benkert should be able to reward his players with lots of surfing time after the Warriors opened their season on Friday night with a 59-8 victory over Waipahu in Hawaii.

Running clock was used in the second half.

Sophomore quarterback Malik Henry was impressive in a starting role, helping Westlake to a 45-8 halftime lead. He finished 12 of 14 passing for 165 yards. Alex Aguilar scored two touchdowns. Reno Dubreuil had two interceptions and a touchdown. Kevin Robledo, who made 20 field goals last season, had a 32-yard field goal. Tommy Gonzales had a 14-yard TD pass.
