Kristi Toliver’s hot hand helps Sparks rout Mystics, 97-67

Kristi Toliver scored 19 points on seven-of-eight shooting and the Los Angeles Sparks routed the Washington Mystics, 97-67, on Friday night.

Toliver was five of six from three-point range.

Jantel Lavender added 12 points, Nneka Ogwumike and Alana Beard had 10 points apiece and Candance Parker had eight points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Sparks (2-0). They are sixth in the AP WNBA Power Poll.

Even before Toliver got hot, the Mystics (0-3), eighth in the power poll, were in trouble, making only four of 17 shots in the first quarter to fall behind 20-10.

Toliver made two three-pointers in the second period as the Sparks pushed the lead to 12 and had three in the third quarter as the lead stretched to 69-48.

Los Angeles shot 20 of 31 (65%) in the second half to finish at 56% for the game.

Emma Meesseman had 13 points and 11 rebounds for Washington, which shot 44% and had 21 turnovers that the Sparks turned into 27 points.
