USC recruiting, known for its closing efforts on signing day, is coming up big in the days ahead of it.

Safety Isaiah Pola-Mao announced his commitment Friday from the gymnasium at Mountain Pointe High in Phoenix.

Pola-Mao, and the rest of the Trojans’ 2017 recruiting class, can sign a letter of intent on Wednesday.

“I just want to thank all of the schools that have given me the opportunity to further my education and further my career in football,” Pola-Mao said, “but for the next four years I will be attending the University of Southern California.”

Pola-Mao put on a USC hat and revealed a Trojans T-shirt as his parents erupted into cheers; he also considered scholarship offers from Arizona State and Washington.

Pola-Mao is the nephew of former USC All-American and eight-time NFL Pro Bowl safety Troy Polamalu.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Pola-Mao is considered a top prospect from Arizona. He made 10 interceptions last season.

Pola-Mao’s commitment comes days after Marlon Tuipulotu, a defensive lineman from Central High in Independence, Ore., switched his commitment from Washington to USC.
