Steve McCann captures gold in BMX Freestyle Big Air with final run
Steve McCann clinched gold in the BMX Freestyle Big Air final for the second consecutive year with a spectacular final run.
The 92.33 closing run helped the Australian edge Zack Warden and Kevin Robinson, who earned a 92 and 91, respectively.
“It seems to be a little déjà vu of last year,” said McCann, who claimed the 2011 gold on the final run. “I don’t know how it works like that.”
He pulled off the flashiest run of the day to successfully defend last year’s gold.

“I was sitting in third, and I was like, ‘What are we here for? Are we here for a good time?’ And I made things happened and it seemed to work out,” he said.
Robinson, who The Times profiled Sunday, missed the 2011 X Games with a shoulder injury after winning three gold medals in Big Air during his career.
