Angels pitcher C.J. Wilson bowed out of the All-Star game on Sunday because of a blister on the middle finger of his pitching hand. He was replaced on the American League roster by Chicago White Sox right-hander Jake Peavy.

Wilson, who is 9-5 with a 2.43 earned-run average, 88 strikeouts and 49 walks in 111 1/3 innings this season, will take part in festivities for the All-Star game, which will be Tuesday night in Kansas City.

Three other Angels -- pitcher Jered Weaver and outfielders Mike Trout and Mark Trumbo -- have been selected for the All-Star game, and Trumbo will take part in Monday night’s Home Run Derby.
