Kansas City 7, Dodgers 2

AT THE PLATE: Yasiel Puig won’t stop hitting. The 22-year-old Cuban outfielder was two for two with a triple, raising his spring average to .521. He also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Matt Kemp was one for three with a walk. Puig and Kemp will make a two-hour trip to Tucson on Thursday to play in a charity game to benefit the Christina Taylor-Green Memorial Foundation. The 9-year-old daughter of Dodgers scout John Green, Christina was killed in the 2011 shooting that wounded Gabrielle Giffords, then an Arizona congresswoman.

ON THE MOUND: Aaron Harang gave up three runs in the first inning, but settled down and retired 11 of the last 14 batters he faced. Harang was charged with four runs (two earned) and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings. Matt Guerrier gave up two runs and three hits in two-thirds of an inning. Ronald Belisario and Kenley Jansen each pitched a scoreless inning.

EXTRA BASES: Chad Billingsley threw a bullpen session and reported a noticeable improvement in his bruised index finger. Billingsley didn’t throw any curveballs. The Dodgers were concerned that if his grip was compromised he could alter his mechanics. “It’s still a little sensitive,” Billingsley said. “I have feeling in my finger tip now. It’s progressing each day, so that’s good.” He is scheduled to pitch Saturday, possibly in a minor league or simulated game.

UP NEXT: vs. Chicago Cubs on Thursday at 1 p.m. at Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium in Tucson.
