The NBA has fined Lakers guard Steve Blake for “directing inappropriate language toward a fan.”

According to Stu Jackson, executive vice president of basketball operations, Blake was fined $25,000 in connection with a fourth-quarter incident during Friday’s game against the Clippers.

Blake made his first start of the season against the Clippers, replacing Steve Nash who sat out with a non-displaced leg fracture. Blake played just under 39 minutes, scoring eight points before fouling out with 29.2 seconds left.

It was in those final moments that Blake apparently lost his composure, according to the NBA. The exchange reportedly took place when a fan in the crowd told Blake, “You need to knock down those open shots” and Blake responded with some off-color language.

Blake reportedly again made comments to the fan shortly after fouling out of the game.
The Lakers started the season 0-3 with the loss to the Clippers before finally getting their first win of the season against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday.

The Clippers have since lost two straight games and are now just one game ahead of the Lakers in the Pacific Division
