Three thoughts for the coming week of college football:

1. No. 1 Alabama returns from a bye week with an intriguing matchup at No. 15 Louisiana State. The underdog Tigers have roared back since Ed Orgeron became interim coach and are riding a three-game winning streak.

2. The campaign to save Charlie Strong’s job continues. Well, maybe only his Texas players really care, but the Longhorns coach has a chance to build on his team’s upset of Baylor with a game against Texas Tech.

3. All the doubts about Nebraska were seemingly justified by a loss to Wisconsin. Now the No. 9 Cornhuskers face an even tougher test at No. 6 Ohio State.
