Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein agrees to terms for 2016 season
Kicker Greg Zuerlein, who has spent his four-year career with the Rams, agreed to terms for this season, the team announced Friday.
Zuerlein made only 20 of 30 field-goal attempts in 2015. His 66.7% percentage was the lowest of his career and ranked among the league’s worst. He made three of nine attempts from 50 yards or longer, and his nine attempts from that distance were the second most in the league.
Zuerlein, 28, also made 26 of 28 extra-point attempts.
Zuerlein is the only kicker on the Rams’ roster. Coach Jeff Fisher said last month when Zuerlein was a free agent that he expected him to return but that the team was “going to create a competitive environment” during training camp.
“I think he needs to compete this year,” Fisher said.
The Rams begin off-season workouts on Monday.
