Minnesota Timberwolves star forward Kevin Love sustained a concussion during Wednesday’s game against Denver and was kept overnight at a hospital for precautionary reasons.
The incident occurred when Nuggets center JaVale McGee penetrated the key with just under four minutes left in the first quarter. As McGee shot a jumper, one of his elbows inadvertently slammed into Love’s head.
Love remained on the ground for a short while. He was helped off of the court by medical personnel.
“It was pretty bad, but hopefully he’ll be all right,” Timberwolves guard J.J. Barea told reporters after his team’s 113-107 loss to the Nuggets. “As soon as he got hit, I knew he was out. He was talking, but he wasn’t all there, though.”
Love is averaging 26 points and 13.3 rebounds this season for the Timberwolves, who are currently near the bottom of the Western Conference with a record of 25-34.
