Johnny Manziel tries to trademark yet another nickname
- Share via
Johnny Manziel has been called a lot of things, many of which can’t be repeated here.
But there are lots of nicknames that the Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback likes -- so much so, in fact, he has tried to get them trademarked. Lots of them.
Last month Manziel’s company, JMan2 Enterprises LLC, tried to register the name “Johnny Cleveland” with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, according to ESPN’s Darren Rovell. It was Manziel’s 10th filing for a trademark.
Most of those other attempts were for nicknames as well. Here are some of them, as well as some I made up (just for fun, see if you can guess which ones are fake):
1. Johnny Football
2. Johnny Cleveland
3. Johnny Depp
4. Johnny Tebow
5. JFF
6. JMan
7. JMan2
8. JManII: The Secret Of the Ooze
9. ManzIIiel
10. Manimal-ziel
In case anyone cares, the fake ones are 3, 4, 8 and 10. OK, so mine are all pretty stupid -- not much worse than some of the real ones though.
But I probably shouldn’t be giving ol’ Johnny Cleveland any ideas. We all know how much that boy loves a good (or bad) nickname. And it looks like he’s been giving the trademark office all the business it can handle lately.
