Michael Phelps to join David Feherty for Ryder Cup preview

Michael Phelps, the most-decorated Olympian in history, is turning his attention to golf now that his swimming days are behind him.

The owner of 18 gold medals, and 22 overall, will join David Feherty on Golf Channel’s “Feherty Live” in advance of the Ryder Cup. The show will be taped live and air Wednesday, two days before the international match-play competition at Medinah Country Club that pits the top U.S. players against their rivals from Europe.

Quipped Feherty, “Michael Phelps may be the only golfer for whom water is not a hazard.”

Said Phelps in a statement, “I’m excited to meet the funniest man in golf, but knowing David, I have a sneaky suspicion that my conversation with him won’t be anything like the years of poolside interviews I have done.”

After the Ryder Cup, Phelps will turn his attention to his own golf game when he joins legendary teaching pro Hank Haney during Golf Channel’s “The Haney Project.”

Tiger Woods’ former swing coach, with varying degrees of success, has worked with Ray Romano, Charles Barkley, Rush Limbaugh and Sugar Ray Leonard during four seasons of “The Haney Project.”

“I’m excited about this project with Golf Channel, and I’m looking forward to working with Hank and see what we can do together on the golf course,” Phelps said.
