Duke men’s basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski said Tuesday that he will not return to coach the U.S. men’s basketball team after the Blue Devils end their season.

“I’ve loved, loved, loved, and it’s been an honor being with the USA Basketball team,” Krzyzewski said on ESPN radio. “And to coach the team and work with [chairman of USA Basketball] Jerry Colangelo for seven years has been marvelous.”

“And we’re in a good spot. We need to keep building.”

Krzyzewski was hired by Colangelo in 2005 after the U.S. men won only a bronze medal in the 2004 Olympics. Under Krzyzewski, the U.S. won gold in the last two Olympics as well as the 2010 world championship.

A replacement for Krzyzewski is expected to be named this summer.

Note to USA Basketball: Phil Jackson isn’t doing anything at the moment.
