Villanova fan arrested for assaulting police horse during celebration of NCAA championship
Some Villanova basketball fans probably aren’t feeling quite as festive Tuesday morning as they were the previous night.
Especially the person who decided the best way to celebrate a national championship is to assault a police horse.
Needless to say, that genius was among the six people arrested by Randor Township police following Kris Jenkins’ buzzer-beating three-pointer to give the Wildcats a 77-74 victory over North Carolina for their first title since 1985.
“There were a lot of individuals who were highly intoxicated,” Radnor Police Sgt. Shawn Dietrich told USA Today.
Dietrich would not provide the newspaper any more information on the incident that led to an arrest for misdemeanor assault on a police animal, but said that person would remain in custody until arraignment later Tuesday.
Emergency responders were called to take care of several small fires set during the aftermath of the victory. A total of 25 celebration injuries have been reported in Randor but nothing more serious than a dislocated elbow.
