What time is the Belmont Stakes?
OK, we know there is no Triple Crown up for grabs, but Saturday’s Belmont Stakes is still a pretty big deal for horse racing aficionados. So, what time should you be home to watch it?
The race is scheduled for 6:32 p.m. local time in New York. That makes it 3:32 p.m. in Los Angeles. Television coverage on NBC starts at 5 p.m. EDT, preceded by two hours of coverage on NBCSN.
It’s a pretty good card of races, so you might want to start the day with TVG to get the races that NBC will potentially ignore.
Southern California in general, and Santa Anita in particular, is looking for a sweep of all three races. Nyquist, the winner of the Kentucky Derby, and Exaggerator, winner of the Preakness Stakes, are both normally stabled in Arcadia.
Nyquist pulled out of the Belmont because of a fever, but Exaggerator is the 9-5 favorite.
There is one other Southern California-based horse in the race, Trojan Nation, who is 30-1 on the morning line.
