UCLA plays Saturdays, but the school has some former players who take the field on Sundays. Here’s a weekly blog featuring former Bruins and what they did in their NFL games:

Akeem Ayers, fourth-year linebacker for the Tennessee Titans: Ayers was inactive again for the Titans on Sunday. They got walloped by the Cincinnati Bengals, 33-7.

Anthony Barr, rookie linebacker for the Minnesota Vikings: Barr recorded his first career sack for the Vikings, and finished the game with five tackles and one pass defended. Minnesota lost to the New Orleans Saints, though, 20-9.

Nate Chandler, third-year offensive tackle for the Carolina Panthers: Chandler started at right tackle for the Panthers, but the Panthers lost, 37-19. Carolina rushed for just 42 yards.

Derrick Coleman, third-year fullback for the Seattle Seahawks: Coleman caught one pass for 14 yards in the Seahwaks’ 26-20 overtime win over the Denver Broncos. Seattle rushed for 129 total yards in the game.

Joseph Fauria, second-year tight end for the Detroit Lions: Fauria caught one pass for three yards in Detroit’s 19-7 win over the Green Bay Packers.

Kai Forbath, third-year kicker for Washington: Forbath probably shouldn’t search his name on Twitter anytime soon. He’s dealing with a groin injury and still converted two of three field goals, plus all four of his PAT attempts, but that miss was a big one. Tied with the Eagles late in the fourth quarter, Forbath hit an upright from 33 yards out. Philadelphia wound up winning the game, 37-34.

Cory Harkey, third-year tight end for the St. Louis Rams: Harkey was questionable with a knee injury, but was active, though he didn’t record any stats in the Rams’ 34-31 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Mike Harris, third-year offensive tackle for the Vikings: Harris was active despite an ongoing shoulder injury, but didn’t appear to play in the Vikings’ loss to the Saints.

Datone Jones, second-year defensive end for the Green Bay Packers: Jones had three tackles in the Packers’ loss to the Lions.

Maurice Jones-Drew, ninth-year running back for the Oakland Raiders: For the second game in a row, Jones-Drew was inactive for the Raiders after getting a procedure done on his right hand. Oakland lost to the Patriots, 16-9, and totaled just 67 yards rushing on the day. Even if he did play, Jones-Drew might have had trouble scoring -- every point in this game was scored by someone with a last name ending in “-owski.” No, I’m not kidding.

Marcedes Lewis, ninth-year tight end for the Jacksonville Jaguars: Lewis was placed on the Jaguars’ injured reserve/designated to return list on Tuesday with an ankle injury, so he didn’t play in Jacksonville’s 44-17 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

Jeff Locke, second-year punter for the Vikings: Locke continues to play well when the Vikings do not. Minnesota lost to the Saints, but Locke averaged 45.3 yards on his four punts, and downed three of them inside the 20-yard line.

Cassius Marsh, rookie defensive end for the Seahawks: The fourth-round draft pick had easily his best game of the season, recording four tackles in the Seahawks’ win over the Broncos.

Rahim Moore, fourth-year free safety for the Denver Broncos: Moore didn’t have a great statistical game in the Broncos’ loss, recording three total tackles, but he did have a part in a great ESPN video feature that aired before Sunday’s game. If you haven’t seen it, check it out here.

Logan Paulsen, fifth-year tight end for Washington: As the primary blocking tight end, Paulsen caught two passes for seven yards in Washington’s 34-37 loss to the Eagles. Washington ran for just 84 yards on the day.

Matthew Slater, seventh-year wide receiver for the New England Patriots: Slater returned one kickoff for 26 yards in the Patriots’ win over the Raiders.

Xavier Su’a-Filo, rookie offensive guard for the Houston Texans: Starting guard Ben Jones was injured in last week’s game, so Su’a-Filo got his first career NFL start at guard in the Texans 30-17 loss to the New York Giants. The team was also missing starting running back Arian Foster, yet still ran for 119 yards on 4.8 yards per carry for the day.

Alterraun Verner, fifth-year cornerback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The Bucs were destroyed on Thursday night football by the Atlanta Falcons, 56-14, but Verner had another good game. He recorded four tackles and a stuff, and forced a fumble.

Christian Yount, fourth-year center for the Cleveland Browns: Yount should probably stay off the Internet too. He continues to get noticed as the long snapper, which is generally not a good thing. For the second week in a row, Yount had another bad snap that cost his team a field goal chance, this time on a 50-yard attempt. The Browns lost to the Ravens, 23-21.

Two former Bruins have been placed on injured reserve and will not be playing this season. Those players are rookie linebacker Jordan Zumwalt (Pittsgurgh Steelers) and rookie wide receiver Shaquelle Evans (New York Jets).
