USC signs honorary football player Joey Rodriguez.
USC players cheered and greeted their newest teammate, Joey Rodriguez, as the 8-year-old became an honorary member of the Trojans’ football team.
Rodriguez, who wants to play quarterback, is suffering from a brain tumor.
Through the nonprofit organization Friends of Jaclyn, USC and Coach Steve Sarkisian on Thursday held a commitment ceremony for Rodriguez, who will attend Saturday’s game agianst Arizona State.
Rodriguez put on a USC hat and signed his name to a letter of intent at the John McKay Center auditorium.
“I’m excited,” Rodriguez said, wearing a Trojans cap and No. 6 USC jersey.
