USC defensive back Josh Shaw is set to play in Saturday’s East-West Shrine Game at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.
“It’s a job interview, it’s a business trip,” Shaw told FootballInsiders.com in a video interview, talking about the opportunity to show his skills to NFL scouts.
Shaw made 11 tackles in USC’s final three games after serving a 10-game suspension for fabricating a story about how he suffered ankle injuries. He was not asked about the suspension during the interview.
Shaw said practicing against Trojan receivers Robert Woods, Marqise Lee and Nelson Agholor prepared him to play at the next level.
Shaw said the “highlight” of his USC career was the Trojans’ Las Vegas Bowl victory over Fresno State.
“We had gone through so much with three different head coaches, and that’s an easy time to fall apart,” he said. “But we didn’t do that.”
