One River Plaza building has seen plenty of Fort Lauderdale history

The nine-story One River Plaza, formerly known as the Sweet Building and the First National Bank Builidng before that, was Fort Lauderdale’s orginal “skyscraper,” built in 1926. It was downtown’s tallest building for 46 years. It is going to be demolished to make way for a 25-story apartment and retail structure.
