Mountain High opens with about 20% of its runs frosted and $49 lift tickets
Mountain High, the closest major ski resort to Los Angeles, opens for the season Wednesday, with $49 lift tickets and top-to-bottom runs.
Though only 20% of the West Resort runs will be open, cool nighttime temps the last few days have allowed for significant snowmaking on the sprawling resort in Wrightwood, about 90 minutes from downtown L.A.
The resort says it has tripled its snow-making operations, which will come in handy in a season off to a very dry start after last year’s generous snows.
Day hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the first 100 guests Wednesday will receive a pair of Andorra gloves (valued at $50).
Early season tickets are $49 for adults and $25 for children 12 and under. Children 6 and under ski free when accompanied by a paying adult. Seniors 70 and over are free every day.
Ticket prices are subject to change without notice.
