Las Vegas: Bellagio fountains are top TripAdvisor attraction
- Share via
The Fountains of Bellagio are America’s top tourist attraction, according to TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice awards.
Since opening in 1998, the shimmering, dancing fountains – about 1,200 in all – have delighted visitors to the Las Vegas Strip with more than 190,000 performances.
The displays are choreographed by WET Design of Los Angeles, the fountains’ creators. The latest additions to the musical repertoire – “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds” by the Beatles, “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson, and “In the Mood” by Glenn Miller – highlight the range of tunes to which the fountains dance.
The free shows are staged every 30 minutes from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays-Friday, noon-7 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays. After 7 p.m., the fountains shoot skyward every 15 minutes.
The other sights in the top five are the Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania, the USS Arizona Memorial in Hawaii, the Top of the Rock observation deck in New York City and San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge.
Las Vegas ranked fourth in TripAdvisor’s ranking of top destinations behind New York City, San Francisco and Chicago. Los Angeles ranked eighth.
