THE BEST WAY TO DENVER
From LAX, United, Southwest, American and Frontier offer nonstop service to Denver; Southwest offers direct service (stop, no change of plane); and US Airways, United, Southwest, American and Delta offer connecting service (change of planes). Restricted round-trip fares begin at $362, including taxes and fees. The Yampah Hot Springs Vapor Caves and the Glenwood Hot Springs pool are both off Interstate 70 in Glenwood Springs, Colo., about 180 miles, or three hours, from Denver. The nearest major airport is Denver International Airport. The Aspen/Pitkin County Airport is about an hour from Glenwood Springs.
WHAT TO DO
Yampah Hot Springs Vapor Caves, 709 E. 6th St., Glenwood Springs; (970) 945-0667, https://www.yampahspa.com. A day pass for the vapor caves cost $12. There’s also a full-service spa offering massages and facials, hair, skin and nail care and Aveda salon services. Shorts, towels and lockers are available.
Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, (970) 947-2955, https://www.hotspringspool.com. Rates change by the season. I paid $15.25 for a day pass in January. The summer peak-season pass is $18.75 a day Mondays-Fridays and $20.25 on weekends for teens and adults. Children 12 and under are less.
