Long Beach: $93 rooms on Labor Day at Hotel Maya

Hotel Maya in Long Beach has a sweet little deal for those who spend the night on Labor Day: a room price of $93 on 9/3. Get it? OK, for most of us the holiday ends Monday, but it might be a pleasant unwind for those who have an extra day off.

The deal: The Hotel Maya, whose design is loosely inspired by its namesake ancient civilization, used to be a Joie de Vivre property but now is under the auspices of DoubleTree by Hilton. The property near the Queen Mary has 199 rooms and a man-made beach called Playa at the Maya. Tiki bars and fire pits round out the outdoor motif. The $93 room is a good deal and a nice way to sample this hotel.

When: The price is good Monday night only.

Tested: I found a room with two queen-sized beds with a garden view (add $10 for a waterfront view) available Monday night for $93. The room usually costs $139 on that night. (Prices don’t include tax or parking.)
