California: A cruise for craft beer lovers
Connoisseurs of craft beers can lift a glass with the experts on a West Coast cruise during the “California Beer Festival at Sea” aboard the Celebrity Century.
Guests will learn about industry trends and how to make their own beer at a roundtable with Lagunitas Brewing Co. of Petaluma, Calif., and Ninkasi Brewing Co. of Eugene. Ore. “It’s like Brewing 101,” said Vincenzo Giammanco, president of the California Beer Festival, the program’s organizer.
Other events include a four-course luncheon paired with beers and a festive “Craft Beer Heaven” with live music, food and small-batch suds. The ship will sail round trip from Los Angeles, with calls on Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Monterey and Catalina Island in California, plus Ensenada, Mexico.
Dates: April 12-19, 2014.
Price: From $639 a person, double occupancy. The price includes the cruise, listed activities and meals. It does not include airfare, gratuities, optional brewery tours, port taxes of $160 a person or government fees and taxes of $102.29 a person. If you book an ocean view or higher cabin category (which starts at $739 a person) by Oct. 6, the price will cover a pass for unlimited beverages, including beer, wine and spirits, for two people.
