The Wahlbergs head to Las Vegas with Wahlburgers
Reporting from Las Vegas — Celebrity burgers are set to join the already crowded fast-casual food market when the Wahlberg family’s Wahlburgers makes its debut on the Las Vegas Strip in late 2015. The restaurant, made famous on the A&E show “Wahlburgers,” is to open at the new Grand Bazaar Shops right in front of Bally’s Las Vegas.
Brothers Mark, the actor; Donnie, the singer and actor; and Paul Wahlberg, the chef, plan to serve up gourmet burgers and specialty drinks.
Expect to find a 5,000-square-foot restaurant, bar and retail store at the main pedestrian entrance to Bally’s. A retail shop, located on the Strip sidewalk, is to open before the restaurant and sell branded Wahlburgers merchandise, including T-shirts, keychains and shot glasses.
The restaurant chain got its start in Hingham, Mass., and the Las Vegas version plans to showcase a walk-up window similar to the original location. A 600-square-foot outdoor patio comes with the space.
Inside is to be decor that reflects the celebrity brothers’ life stories -- from Dorchester neighborhood kids to rising chef and international stars.
The menu features family’s favorites, dubbed “Wahlfaves,” such as Donnie’s barbecue bacon burger with either a turkey or beef burger topped with white cheddar cheese, bacon, avocado, jalapenos and barbecue sauce.
Mark’s favorite is the Thanksgiving day, which he describes as “like Thanksgiving leftovers on a bun,” made with ground seasoned turkey, stuffing, orange-cranberry sauce, roasted butternut squash and mayo.
The desserts are also a draw. Try frappes made with milk and Nona’s homemade ice cream, available in flavors including chocolate mint, mocha and chocolate strawberry.
A children’s menu and hot dogs with toppings also are planned.
